From 2014 to 2017, we served as Peace Corps Volunteers in Morocco, assigned to work with children and young adults in the Youth Center of a mid-sized city. Having been painters for the past forty years, we knew our best contributions would include aspects of artistic expression. To that end, we initiated a collage workshop for university students which combined English language practice with visual creativity. The results of this workshop were amazing. None of the students had ever taken an art class, but their collages were creative, original and expressive.

In spite of the chaotic appearance of the workshop, the students were organized and thoroughly engrossed in creating their collages. They worked with a wonderful spirit of cooperation, sharing materials and helping one another find a particular image or color.
